Seattle Iranian Choir
The Seattle Iranian Choir is a community ensemble comprised of members from the local Iranian-American community. Our main focus is to celebrate and share the rich heritage of Iranian music. Since our debut at the 2015 Nowruz Festival, we have had the pleasure of performing at various events and festivals, including Nowruz, Mehregan, and Yalda celebrations, Seattle Iranian Festivals, Northwest Folklife Festivals, and the multinational Cultural Festivals at the University of Washington.
The ensemble is directed by Afshin Sepehri who is passionate about Iranian culture and music. We are usually accompanied by local musicians and dancers, adding depth and beauty to our performances. The talented pianist, Payam Khastkhoadei, serves as our main instrumentalist, enriching our musical journey.
Throughout the challenges posed by the Corona pandemic, we continued to share our love for music through recorded videos of both original and adapted songs.
We also cherish the opportunities to collaborate with other musical groups, fostering cultural exchange and understanding. Notably, in 2018 and 2022, we had joint concerts with the Seattle Peace Chorus, creating memorable experiences for our audiences.
Our mission remains to preserve and promote Iranian music and culture while contributing to the vibrant cultural scene in Seattle. We are committed to engaging with our diverse community and creating meaningful connections through the universal language of music.
