SUTA held its Seattle Chapter’s monthly event, in collaboration with Alefba Group, on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 6:30 PM at the Pardis Center. The focus of this meeting was using the ocean acoustic dataset to characterize the ocean ambient noise.

Abstract:
Sounds produced in the ocean are confined between the ocean surface and floor, traveling a great distance. The relationship between the underwater ecosystem and the composition of its sounds is called “ocean ambient noise” or “ocean soundscape” which reveals important information about the ocean environment, such as marine life, geological activities, natural phenomena, and the human footprint in the ocean.
